Network virtualization as an enabler for cloud computing: a telco perspective
Network virtualization combined with server and storage virtualization could provide the end-to-end flexible ITC infrastructure that underpins so-called .cloud computing. offerings with the ability to provision virtualized resources (computing power, storage capacity, network bandwidth and topology) on a per-demand basis and in an efficient way with regard to resource utilization and multiplexing. This talk will present virtualization use cases relevant from a telecommunication operator and service provider viewpoint and will provide an overview of research activities underway at Orange Labs dealing with resource management issues in end-to-end virtualization environments notably on scalable resource brokering and SLA-aware resource allocation and virtual-to-physical resource mapping.
